Alex Shibutani is a two-time Olympic medalist (Figure Skating), author, producer, photographer, creative consultant, tech consultant, and advocate for cultural exchange, sports accessibility, and education.

On the ice, he and his sister, Maia, known together as the ShibSibs, have achieved unprecedented success as an Ice Dance team, winning medals in every year of their 14-season career. In 2018, the siblings made Olympic history, becoming the first ice dancers of Asian descent and the first Ice Dance team of color to medal at the Winter Olympic Games. These historic achievements led to their first ballot induction to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in January, 2023.

Off the ice, Alex has served as a Sports Envoy with the U.S. Department of State since 2017. In 2021, he was selected to join the LA28 Athletes’ Commission. In an evolution of his storytelling abilities, he has co-authored four children’s books to combat the lack of visibility and representation of AAPIs in culture, media, and education. His newest non-fiction picture book will be released on April 29th, 2025, “Incredible: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Changed the World.”

Alex is an accomplished photographer whose work spans portrait, sports, fashion, travel, and Hollywood events. Recent clients and work include the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team, Oscar nominee, Jeffrey Wright, and comedian, Ronny Chieng. His images have been showcased at the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Art Museum.
