Bill Ireton

Bill Ireton's career for 26 years was with Warner Entertainment Japan, and its predecessor, Warner Bros. Pictures Japan. Appointed CEO in 2006, he had broad oversight of all Warner Bros.’ businesses in Japan, including theatrical production and distribution, television distribution, home entertainment, consumer products and video games.

Prior to that, he was Managing Director, Warner Bros. Pictures Japan, a role in which he joined the company in 1988, where he was instrumental in the distribution of such key releases as the Matrix trilogy, the Harry Potter films, The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo Jima. 

Ireton started local Japanese production for Warner Bros., and produced the Rurou ni Kenshin trilogy, which together grossed over $100 million. In addition, he made Paradise Kiss, The Last Chushingura, The Straw Shield, Kuroshitsuji and the Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, starring Ken Watanabe under the direction of Sang-il Lee. 

In 2015, he established Ireton Entertainment Inc., forming a strategic alliance with Yoshimoto Kogyo.

Ireton also headed Local Production (Japan) for Sony Pictures International Productions, producing Japanese-language movies such as Hell Dogs, I Am Makimoto and the Japanese remake of the Italian movie, Perfect Strangers.

He is on the board of Sansei Technologies Inc. and Tohokushinsha, both publicly traded companies and a member of the Silicon Valley Japan Platform. He is also chairman of the board of Forrec, based in Toronto, Canada.
