Karen Ng

director of operations, hibiscus asia + pacific forum


As Director of Operations, Karen Ng channels her experience and passion to support mission-driven organizations focused on creating lasting social impact.

She spent 20 years in New York City where she helped launch innovative programs designed to enhance the health and well-being of communities. After her lupus diagnosis, Karen founded the nation’s only lupus support program for Asian Americans and their families, LANtern® (Lupus Asian Network) at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and helped launch international efforts to improve the lives of children in Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Karen currently serves as the co-chair of the Hawaii chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is a national support group facilitator for the Lupus Foundation of America and LFA Ambassador. When she’s not staring at a screen, you can find her on the tennis courts, hiking, or wine tasting.

Karen grew up in Palo Alto, CA and received her B.A. from Cornell University and a Masters of Public Health degree from Columbia University. She lives in Honolulu, HI.
