Peter Shaindlin, Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer of Haleku­lani Corporation in Hon­olulu, Hawaii, is both an internationally recognized hospitality visionary and accomplished artist. A business leader, cul­tural critic and thought leader on lux­ury, arts, philo­soph­i­cal and cul­tural top­ics, he’s been a vis­it­ing fellow and re­search scholar at Uni­ver­sity of Ox­ford, Har­ris Man­ches­ter Col­lege in the United Kingdom from 2014, performing schol­ar­ship and research on the lead­er­ship and sus­tain­abil­ity of iconic in­sti­tu­tions.

He completed his post­grad­u­ate studies in Global Busi­ness at Uni­ver­sity of Ox­ford’s SAID Busi­ness School/Jesus College, Oxford and is a lifetime member of the Oxford Union. His education included classical music and creative writing at Mannes College, and business and arts at New York University. Recognized for his trendsetting accomplishments in the lux­ury hos­pi­tal­ity industry, Shaindlin has gained pro­fes­sional recog­ni­tion in a ca­reer span­ning al­most four decades. A former vice pres­i­dent of Rose­wood Ho­tels & Re­sorts, he has over­seen myriad international hospitality, arts, and cultural in­sti­tu­tions.

Playing an ac­tive role in the arts and cul­tural com­mu­nity of Hawaii and abroad as both an executive and artist, his unique background has allowed him to spear­head Haleku­lani Cor­po­ra­tion’s arts and cul­ture part­ner­ships, in­clud­ing ʻIolani Palace, Hawaii Sym­phony Orchestra, Bishop Mu­seum and Hawaii POPS, Cham­ber Music Hawaii, Hawaii The­atre, Hawaii Opera The­ater, Merwin Conservancy, Uni­ver­sity of Hawaii, Pa­cific New Media, Hawaii Book & Music Fes­ti­val, Hon­olulu Mu­seum of Art, Lil­jes­trand House, Shangri La, and the Hawaii In­ter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val. For these evolving ef­forts and commitment, Haleku­lani Cor­po­ra­tion was 2017 re­cip­i­ent of the BCA-10 Award from Amer­ica for the Arts in Wash­ing­ton, DC.  

A mem­ber of the Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee of Lead­ing Ho­tels of the World, Shaindlin has also sat as trustee of the In­ter­na­tional Lux­ury Hotel As­so­ci­a­tion, Hawaii Arts Alliance, the Mer­win Conservancy, and was Chair­man of the Honolulu Sym­phony and ex­ec­u­tive board mem­ber of The Hon­olulu Sym­phony Foun­da­tion. He has also served on the boards of Bishop Mu­seum, Hawaii Em­ploy­ers Coun­cil and the Japan-Amer­ica So­ci­ety of Hawaii.

Shaindlin's fine art photography is rep­re­sented by West­wood Gallery in New York City and has been ex­hib­ited at major Amer­i­can art fairs in­clud­ing ART MIAMI and ART WYNWOOD. He is a past faculty member of University of Hawaii’s Pacific New Media School, and lecturer at ESSEC College in Versailles, France on luxury brand management. He privately counsels recognized performing and visual artists in aesthetics, with particular emphasis on artistic interpretation.

He has written five books, published by Deuxmers LLC: a novella and four vol­umes of po­etry, as well as an upcoming work of critical essays, while also lecturing at literary events. His philosophical pursuits place particular emphasis on the nexus of practical ethics and post-altruistic capitalism, with speaking engagements at the East-West Philosophers Conference in Hawaii and others.

He is the founder and leader of the free/experimental jazz performance group RED NOVA, which after launching its international ‘COMBUSTION Tour’ in 2024 at the Blue Note, was featured at the Odesa Jazz Festival in Ukraine, and whose debut album was a finalist at the 2024 Na Hoku Hano Hano Music Awards for best instrumental jazz album.
