Peter Shaindlin,Chief Operating Officer of Halekulani Corporation in Honolulu, Hawaii, is both an internationally recognized hospitality visionary and accomplished artist. A business leader, cultural critic and thought leader on luxury, arts, philosophical and cultural topics, he’s been a visiting fellow and research scholar at University of Oxford, Harris Manchester College in the United Kingdom from 2014, performing scholarship and research on the leadership and sustainability of iconic institutions.
He completed his postgraduate studies in Global Business at University of Oxford’s SAID Business School/Jesus College, Oxford and is a lifetime member of the Oxford Union. His education included classical music and creative writing at Mannes College, and business and arts at New York University. Recognized for his trendsetting accomplishments in the luxury hospitality industry, Shaindlin has gained professional recognition in a career spanning almost four decades. A former vice president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, he has overseen myriad international hospitality, arts, and cultural institutions.
A member of the Executive Committee of Leading Hotels of the World, Shaindlin has also sat as trustee of the International Luxury Hotel Association, Hawaii Arts Alliance, the Merwin Conservancy, and was Chairman of the Honolulu Symphony and executive board member of The Honolulu Symphony Foundation. He has also served on the boards of Bishop Museum, Hawaii Employers Council and the Japan-America Society of Hawaii.
Shaindlin's fine art photography is represented by Westwood Gallery in New York City and has been exhibited at major American art fairs including ART MIAMI and ART WYNWOOD. He is a past faculty member of University of Hawaii’s Pacific New Media School, and lecturer at ESSEC College in Versailles, France on luxury brand management. He privately counsels recognized performing and visual artists in aesthetics, with particular emphasis on artistic interpretation.
He has written five books, published by Deuxmers LLC: a novella and four volumes of poetry, as well as an upcoming work of critical essays, while also lecturing at literary events. His philosophical pursuits place particular emphasis on the nexus of practical ethics and post-altruistic capitalism, with speaking engagements at the East-West Philosophers Conference in Hawaii and others.
He is the founder and leader of the free/experimental jazz performance group RED NOVA, which after launching its international ‘COMBUSTION Tour’ in 2024 at the Blue Note, was featured at the Odesa Jazz Festival in Ukraine, and whose debut album was a finalist at the 2024 Na Hoku Hano Hano Music Awards for best instrumental jazz album.
